Day 8: 24..A Show on Steroids?

It seems as though the 24 hype has hit the students of my new school hard as the eighth (?) season begins. Just in case you live in the stone age, 24 is a non-stop action packed TV Series starring Keifer Sutherland (sp?) and other actors that we may recognize from cooler shows (LIKE V WHICH IS BY FAR THE BEST NEW SERIES ON ABC). The structure of the show is interesting on its own: each season is 24 episodes long, and each episodes covers an hour in real time (meaning an entire season = an earth day (or 1/30th of a lunar day if that means anything to you)).

I've only seen a few select episodes from the newest season, and I don't know a lot about the main characters themselves, but if you're in the mood for random suspense and action scene after action scene after action scene, this is a show for you. You don't even have to know the characters, its just non-stop action all the way, and that makes for a very entertaining show.

However, I have to stop and think about how a steroid induced show like this could last for so long. I mean, wouldn't the nonstop action and suspense get a little repetitive after awhile? I could probably watch a season...and if I'm really hyped I might stick around for a second season, but I'm not sure if I could handle that much action for such a long period of time. I enjoy action and suspense, but I enjoy mystery and science-fiction more (two /very/ important aspects of the best show ever...LOST..........no, not castle, contrary to what the Word Nerd might tell you, but LOST).

What do you guys think about 24 or hyped up TV Series' in general? Respond in the comments :).

Today was a boring day, and that boring attribute was multiplied by a power of -42 after the assembly we had today. It was centered upon "A 21st Century Curriculum for students of Independent Schools". All I got out of it was: "Be creative, be a leader, and be a problem-solver. If you do these things, you don't need the SAT. If you aren't these things, you'll fail miserably."

Most pointless assembly ever? Its definitely in my top 5 :P

Today's musical recommendation is "There, There Katie" by Jack's Mannequin. Yes, I am aware these past few recommended selections are songs you've heard before, but unfortunately I haven't run into anything new in the past week. It's ok though, because these are songs you like, and recommending them just reminds you how spectacular they really are. (I just lost the game). This song is another great "I'm crushed, but this song is gonna restore my Health Points back to the optimal level" song. The soothing piano melody works well with the radiant voice of Jack's Mannequin, and therefore its only appropriate for the song to be featured in today's Music Corner. You can listen to the song here .

Apart from TV show reviews and Pokemon refrences, that's all I have to say today.

Happy 1 week anniversary of Your Daily Cup of Haufe Coffee!!! If you've been reading this since the beginning, pet a kitten, or watch the duck video (go to the Word Nerd's blog for a link).

G'nights Interwebs!

  1. ...except jack bauer and his intense buddies stop for commercials, so it's really only like 16 hours per season. fail, chris. fail.

  2. I don't think they "stop" for commercials. I think "real time" continues, but nothing interesting happens during each 3-4 minute break.

Therefore it should still cover a whole day. We only get to see 16 hours of it tho

  3. so really it should be called, "we filmed 16 hours of material, and we're adding 8 hours of commercials, so it's 24. LIVE WITH IT."

  4. Yeah, it is "real time." That show was on after House and my mom was into it for awhile. But I think that was just because she saw one episode and wanted to know what happened after and so on.
