Day 31: The Hierarchy of Virtual Laughter

Ugh, its Sunday...

Aside from the pains I received from SAT prep class and loads of homework, today was rather boring. So, to keep the blog moving, I've decided to introduce you guys to the Hierarchy of Virtual Laughter. It was created by myself and a friend of mine (she's a crazy guitar playing Italian with a pet mop...whose name is Carly) this summer to decipher the magnitudes of the different styles of laughter in virtual chat. As far as I can remember, this is what we came up with:

1.) lol
2.) haha
3) lolzq/lolwx (or any other variation of the term "lol")
4.) hahahahahahahahaha (or any form of "haha" longer than the original term)
5.) LOL
6.) HAHA
7.) ROFL
8.) ROFLCOPTER
9.) ROFLMUFFINS
and finally, the grandest of them all:
10.) FLYINGROFLMUFFINSFROMOUTERSPACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so next time you need to express any euphoric laughter electronically, you can refer to this guide. If I forgot something or you would like to add something to the Hierarchy of Virtual Laughter, leave a message in the comments :)

I've listened to a lot of music over this past weekend, and I fell into the habit of saying "OOH! I want to recommend this song for Day 31!...WAIT!!! nonononono, I want to recommend THIS song!". This went on for awhile until finally I decided on an appropriate song related to whats been floating around in my mind lately: "The Freshmen" by The Verve Pipe. This song tells the story of a pair of teenage lovers who find themselves in chaos after the girl gets pregnant. They consider abortion, yet they have a hard time dealing with this possibility. They lament the whole situation and blame their actions and stupidity with the fact that they were only freshmen. (I could have completely misinterpreted the song, but at least thats what I got out of it)

I feel like there are a sad number of teenagers every year that end up this way or at least end up equally as messed up. I sincerely wish I could help these people, but alas, sometimes they're beyond help. And so, I recommend this song with words of wisdom: don't fall into the social rut that high school so easily lures you into...stay true to yourself, and do what you think is right.

Ok, so that got kind of corny, but I mean someone had to say something about it, right? Tell me what you think about it in the comments, I'm interested to hear your point of view.

I must depart now, for I have a ton of physics left to do. I wish there a Hierarchy of Virtual Disgust to portray my feelings toward physics homework. I wonder if "anti-FLYINGROFLMUFFINSFROMOUTERSPACE!!!!" will suffice.

I think you get the picture.

G'nights Interwebs!
